I think they would be okay, if it weren't for the chasing after them. You run left and right and they're simply faster

you can get some very strong weapons in expansions; the core is a little weak in this regard, but there are ways to circumvent strength disparity, the obvious one being high luck on anything with crits

Makes sense. So I have to get my luck up....

3 paired is weird: one of the pair gets full rules + double speed; the other is a vanilla stat line with no beneficial rules (paired, deadly, etc.) attached. This is true of any weapon taken in multiples, but only generally matters with paired + blood paint, or that shields don't stack, since generally the only other reason to is for affinities.

So basically, it's not working? Would have been too good to be true ^^

Thanks Nick for your swift reply. :)

I thought I remembered Kevin or Nick answering this question in the same way. Link lets you prep two link spells to one breach, OG lets you prep any two spells to any of your open breaches, but they don't stack. However, I'm not finding that post. I agree though. If the effects stacked, it would say something like, "You may prep one additional spell to each of your open breaches."

Correct, max 2 spells even if they have link.

I suggest you cannot be double poisoned . Just once is enough. Because it’s cumbersome to track what your life points are. And if you’re your total health was +1 (upgrade) it does not getting any better (happened to me yesterday).

Suggestions?

Same for paralyze. You cannot be double paralyzed is my suggestion.

So back to the topic. How about custom items? Custom classes are plentiful. Custom items apply as easily i would say. Easier than custom monster types. Surely this game has enough nuanced mechanics there is scope for them?

The number of items in the game and there variety is already very strong. Its just their weakness compared to other items that's the problem.

I'm getting pretty close to retiring. My Spellweaver has: Iron Helmet, Cloak of Invisibility, Piercing Bow, Power Potion, Minor Stamina Potion (nerf'ed to one card back)

Upon retirement, and using a variant I'm thinking about, I'll need to remove 3 of them from the game. I was thinking about the Helmet, Bow, and Power Potion. I'm tempted to go with a harsher variant and remove them all, but the Cloak is so good. I hate for the Cloaks to be gone forever (the other is bought already). That card is better than stamina potion for the Spellweaver. But maybe that's what the game really needs to shine focus on other items. We have also never lost on normal. So as we get even better at the game, maybe worse items is a better alternative than upping the scenario level. Or even if the items aren't worse, they at least are different so it gives another angle to improve skill on.

If yes, do I have to decide beforehand exactly how many cards I will draw if I go higher than 3?

3+ means you must draw at least 3 but can draw more if you want.

You don't look at any of the cards until you've drawn the number you've decided on.

Adding to this, but if you have cards that allow to reduce the number of cards you draw it is still possible right? Let's say to reduce the drawing number to 2 or 1?
Thank you

You decide before you draw the first card whether you're going to draw one and use the card or two and not use it. You can't draw one and then decide to use the card.

Hello! This game seems quite interesting to me and I have a few questions about it.

1) How punishing is losing a fight? The idea of "sixty seconders" is really cool and makes the world seem super dangerous and scary. But if characters can never die, that has sort of the opposite effect. How do you maintain a deadly feeling world without death?

2) What is animus, thematically?

3) If someone decides to attack with all of the white dice and somehow doesn't miss, does the beast just get one shot? How do you prevent anti-climactic fight endings with this possibility, even if slim?

The idea of researching, hunting, and preparing for a big monster fight seems really cool. I'm looking forward to the KS launch. Thanks!

My brother got his last week with the new sculpts too. My guess is that they aren't announcing it because they can't be sure which version you'll be getting on Amazon etc and it's better to stay quiet than deal with upset people that get the old version....

Currently I have the original AE broken token insert alongside the Legacy addon insert to store everything except for the starting cards, which are in the WE box's original "insert". It's not going to fit once the new stuff comes. Most likely I will get another BT insert for the WE box, which should comfortably hold everything. Probably all gems, relics and spells in the Legacy box with the nemesis and character cards in the WE box.

Edit: Sleeved, of course, with KMC Hyper Mattes. However I am in the process of converting my collection to Arcane Tinmen Non-Glare sleeves, which are about 25% thinner. The Legacy box would easily store everything unsleeved.

Welcome! If you're hungry for more knowledge about AT:O, feel free to peruse the threads in this forum as one of the creators is a frequent poster and has provided a lot of detailed answers and teasers here over the past year. You can also read the developer posts on the AT:O Facebook page as well as some of the more recent updates on the AT:Eschaton Kickstarter page as they include early looks and teasers for AT:O as well. Lastly, the developers are working to have a preview version of the Kickstarter page made available sometime this week so keep an eye out for that. You picked a great time to come aboard!

Questions with the set up for Mission 1 for 1-2 players.

By the way there are very tiny letter fonts in all the mission pages! I can hardly read it in the evening……

Set up mission objective tokens
Q1. I assume you put the color side face up? And not the black C side?
Q2. Can you choose to put the objective token of your own hero/color face up at one of the two spots or at random?

Addition to set up rule:
Put all the upgrade level 1 tokens ‘Construct your drone beacon for free’ back in the box. Use only the other ‘+1 extract Exo’ level 1 upgrade.

Nice job! :)

And now take that difficulty increase from the 1st to the 2nd, multply it by, say, one-thousand, and you have the 3rd! :D

... and I am not even kidding here ...

Okay, maybe one-thousand is a little high, but you get the idea.

Bye
Thanee

P.S. My advice for the 3rd scenario is, well try it a few times, but if you want to have a real shot at winning it, play two decks. It's vastly more manageable that way.

Lost Legion is more difficult but the average fame of the monsters are higher. I find that I can get a higher score with LL when I have enough familiarity with it.

I am probably an outlier, but my solo games with 2 spirits (how I prefer to play) always last 3+ hours because I enjoy the process of thinking through the combination of moves, cards, etc. I rarely complete a game in one sitting, but instead leave it out and play a 30 to 60 minutes a time. This is not a problem for me, it is how I prefer to play (no rush, thinking about the game when I am away from it).

I love this game solo. I also started playing Too Many Bones solo recently as well and found many similarities in planning and the satisfaction I took away from it (I probably have used FAQ more on that one, but Spirit Island took me a while on the boards reviewing confusing points before I got the confidence I was playing it right).

I have come to the realization through playing both Spirit Island and TMB that without the broader gaming community (mainly on BGG) to answer the many questions I had (which were not unique, so the answers were easy to find online), I probably would have boxed the games up out of frustration early on and never truly enjoyed them. I love both the games, so I am very thankful for the access to the broader gaming community that got me through the learning curve.
