I have sent 2 emails to Miniature Market about when we preorder will be shipped. No response yet but the status on my game just changed from "waiting release" to "packaged" I should have just bit the bullet paid more from fantasy flight AND I would have got 5 of those cool player mats :(

Is there terrain in the box? I saw a pic that shows the tactical mal on the app with terrain and the tiles without any. Is cardboard terrain included in the core set?

Ok.....

How about this change in wording to the PLACE keyword.

"Place - Place the Hostile card in the noted Location or Objective card. The Hostile card counts toward the eventual Hostile value of the Location or Objective card if it is drawn for the Location it is to be Placed in. The Hostile card does not count toward the eventual Hostile value of the Location or Objective card it is placed in if it is drawn for a Location other than the one it is to be Placed in. The Placed Hostile enters play active, even if the Objective has not yet been Activated." (emphasis is words I've added. The rest is the exact wording from the Keywords card)

In other words, the Hostile drawn counts for the total for whatever Location it was drawn for, but it does NOT count towards the Hostile total for the Location it is put in, unless it is the Location that caused it to be drawn in the first place.

This is how I have always interpreted the Keyword definition in both Wave I and Wave II. If we no longer count Hostiles that are placed in Locations other than the one that prompted their drawing towards that total, with so many more 0 Hostiles already in the Japan deck, you could be placing 6, 8, even more Hostiles for 1 Location card draw, even at Lower Squad RP values.

The following analysis was done for Japanese Front Line Hostiles only. Any other Hostiles (country/quality/Anti-Vehicle) may or may not follow similar numbers.

There are 26 Japanese Frontline Hostiles. Of these 26, 8 have wording indicating that it would not be placed in the Location card that drew it (for a placed Location card...Reinforcement placements may be different). That's almost 21% of the available Hostiles (at least at start...after that, who knows?). The breakdown of their Experience values are two 0's, five 2's and one 4.

Theoretically, then, if those Hostiles did not count towards the Hostile value of the drawn card, you could draw all 8 of those Hostiles, with a combined Hostile value of 20, in addition to the Hostiles drawn that went on the card itself. That's....that's just scary:gulp:

Ah, I got it. Good to know. I'm still waiting on my Miniature Market pre-order and was considering cancelling if it had errors. Thanks for the picture. Good to see more of the game. Thank you.

I'm 2 games in and I think I come close to crossing the line with research. I haven't studied level 2 cards and I don't study the next mission(s) but I like to see what the dungeon looks like to develop a little plan in my head as far as how I can maneuver my character (Spellweaver). I don't look very hard at behind doors I'm more interested in the overall layout. I don't read the scenario or what's in the chests I just what a little map intel.

I don't share anything even though I don't think I have much to share.

Am I a D-bag for going this far, or am I just being prepared??

I don't have the game, but I believe I read that cardboard terrain is included.

There are group compositions which are harder to play then others, especially in 2 player
If you look around a bit you probably find some threads about them

I've only dabbled a bit into Aeon's End. But do people generalized have prebuilt decks? Is there any advantages?

Maybe this could work to be consistent? The bracketed text would be in purple.

Deep Set
Reel Phase: Discard any 1 FC and draw a new one to replace it or [Re-roll any 1 FD].

Sharp Hooks
Reel Phase: You may Discard this card a) to swap out any 1 FC with the top one of the discard pile or [b) to ignore RR].

Yeah, that makes sense about not liking to add Enter. I didn't know the hyphenation happens automatically.

Yes, cardboard tokens are in the core set for terrain. Tokens are listed in the rules and are double sided: stream/wall, fire/statue, pit/mist, bush/ boulder, and table/barrels.

The items you equip don't really represent the weapons that you are using to make your regular attacks (whether those are the attacks listed on the ability cards or the default attack 2 that any card's top action can be used for instead of what is printed).

The items generally represent special moves or magical enhancements. Otherwise you'd be able to use the attributes of your equipped items more than just once per rest cycle or once per scenario.

Your character carries other weapons to make their regular attacks, which are represented by the ability cards themselves.

what’s the difference?

Some playmats define areas to place cards. Essentially they introduce a board to a game without a fixed board.

This playmat is cosmetic as others pointed out -- just a nice picture to look at.

typically there's pictures in a rulebook that show how to layout cards - do people really need dotted lines to do so themselves? i'd argue that a mat with designated lines for cards is still only cosmetic versus mat with gameplay options like maps, summary info, or some type of tracking spaces for health, etc.

I did not see a layout example in the rulebook(s)...

sounds like a playmat is required to play then? maybe the app will show people how to lay out cards, otherwise could be trouble! ;)

This is why I'm trying to keep a fairly limited selection based around Fofo.

I only bought into Shadows because of the release of Fofo. I wasn't really interested in the wild west theme prior to that.

It's the flaming otherworlds that are the problem :) I'm trying so hard to keep to the few I listed above. But it's so tempting to get Blasted Wastes plus all the cards and Xl enemies that go with it - that and the canyons.. Nightmare.

Masters of the Void is really appealing to me but seems to be like gold dust to get hold of at the minute.

Inspector Jee's post above is why I'm not even considering any of the mission packs. They would just send me over the edge. As it stands I'm fairly happy with my thematic approach. Now if FFP were to release compatibility decks for some of their otherworlds that aligned them to Fofo as opposed to the mines, well then I might as well remortgage my house! :(

Cheers.

I don't personally, but the advantage is reduced setup time. Once the players pick the mage they want to play, you just grab the associated prebuilt starting deck.

Without prebuilt starting decks, you have to wait until each person picks their mage. Then repeat the following for each mage: 1. find the associated unique starting cards for that mage and 2. count out the correct number of sparks and crystals.

If you have no problem with putting all the monsters in a scrambled pile, I would recommend my solution for the base game and all existing expansions.
I put some big tiles, the investigators, the cards and all the monsters in the base box.
And all the others tiles and the tokens (in zipper bags) are in the Streets of Arkham box. Fits well enough and makes a lot of space in the cupboard.

This game seems a bit pricey for what you get. I will play mostly solo but how does it play with others that are around 12 years old? Is this worth the price?

I am assuming the Location and Weather cards will be reworked slightly to be Fight Deck/Dice friendly as well?

Yeah Locations have to be fixed too since some of them affect the Fight cards. The Weather should be ok though.
