I also find it is rarely worth it to change roles. However, on Heroic difficulty if the hazmats are close together we have found it worth it to start with a Hazmat Technician. Getting ride of the hazmats may allow the fire to get slightly out of control at the beginning. To combat this the Hazmat Technician could then switch to the Drive to get that fire under control again. Best case this would reduce the amount of explosions and therefore wall damage. But if you have bad roles and the fire that got worse causes explosions then it may not have made a difference.I think thematically it makes the most sense to change roles in the truck.
