August 16, 2012: My old roommate (J), his wife (S), and my girlfriend (B) all decided to do a board game night. Looking back now, it's a bit of a blur. We started early, ended late, and had a ton of laughs at everyone's misfortunes. We started out with Survive: Escape from Atlantis!. Simple, fun, easy to teach, and let everyone see just how cruel we can all be. First one was a good learning game, so we played a second time and got even more vicious. No idea who won either game.
With 4 people all in the mindset of screwing over everyone else, it seemed like a good time to break out Mall of Horror. I can't recall much of that one apart from me getting completely screwed in both of the games we played. Again, I can't recall who won either of the games, but I remember providing plenty of food for the zombie horde.
Let's try a little team work with Red November! Explaining the rules was a challenge to say the least. Between my completely forgetting the game and S and B laughing at the art, cracking jokes, and laughing at each other, the whole thing became a gong show. Game ends when the pressure gauge fills. We give them a few minutes to stop laughing hysterically. :)
It's late and I'm the only one that has to work the next day, but Survive: Escape from Atlantis! is still sitting next to us, so we break it out for one more game. B and myself seem to have it in for each other this game and sabotage everything the other person does. I'm pretty sure we only managed to get 1 or 2 people to safety each. S wins by a landslide, saving most of her people.
Board game night is a success! Plenty of fun and laughs for all. Hopefully we'll have another one soon!
