I just cancelled my pledged as I noticed that as I live in Greece, Europe, I will be charged for another 20%. That means that for the deluxe version I need 114$ plus the shipping 16$ at least, a total for 130$. In other projects that included Friendly Shipping they did not mention any additional taxes and I just received my pledge. So what does it mean EU Friendly Shipping anyway?
Nevertheless, no matter how innovative a game is, the whole concept must be realistic. For me it is not. The art and the pop up art is gorgeous but considering the market and the games that are about to be published, I decided to pass.

I may be wrong, but I think I recall someone explaining to me that EU Friendly Shipping is just a way to say that the developers have accounted for VAT taxes already. There is no actual way to avoid VAT taxes, so what is is typically done is a combination of two things: 1) slightly increased shipping prices for everyone (including non-EU backers) that help cover the VAT prices and 2) the developer taking the hit out of their profits.

I totally agree that VAT is something that you cannot avoid. I also agree that Friendly Shipping means that the cost is spreaded somehow. But when you mention on a project that offers Friendly Shipping you cannot say to the backers that they will pay 20% in addition for the VAT. This is not Friendly Shipping.
I pledged for Perseverance of Mindclash Games. The Deluxe Pledge is 135$ plus EU Friendly shipping 20$ and that is all. In Shivers project there is no Friendly Shipping and they should have removed the icons mentioning that. And I also believe that they have done it on purpose in order to attract more people.
