Don't do this! It will mess with the randomness and give you a way higher chance to get a relic, since there are a ton more consumables than relics and relics are way more precious early levels.
If you don't want to shuffle the decks together, instead count the cards in both decks, roll a d100 (or other random generator) and pick the card of that number from the top.
Example (in case it's not clear, numbers are made up, I don't have my copy with me):
There are 15 relics and 30 consumables, making it 45 card in total. I rolled 18, therefre I will skip the 15 relics and get the third consumable from the deck. If I rolled anything above 45, I reroll until I get what I need.

Good call, didn't check the amounts before suggesting that. From the card counts, it seems like 17+ on a d20 would be a decent approximation. As long as it doesn't involve counting or shuffling decks mid-game, since that sounds like it really kills the flow. :D
