I don't think that someone who is "capable of methodical thought" is necessarily quicker at finding the "right" decision. E.g., someone who is a more intuitive thinker may leap to a correct conclusion in three seconds, while the more methodical thinker may take three hours to arrive at the same result.

It's also not the case that people who are more methodical or logical in their comprehension are necessarily good at pruning the "more productive" or "less productive" lines of thinking. E.g., I have a friend who is very good at puzzles, which I think often reflects skill in using heuristics to prune the search tree, but that's not the same as someone who is more comprehensive at studying the entire search tree. The latter might be slower but more accurate in the end.

It could be that these points are orthogonal to the ones you were trying to make.
