I'm wondering if you've tried the game with any of the different schemes, or just the suggested "starter" one.
I'm up to about 10-12 games now and there is only one scheme I've not put into play. I've also tried to make sure each sub-deck gets fair rotation. I think Hulk is the only deck I've used only once.
I'd certainly say it's overpriced.
I think this depends upon your point of view. Either of the big box Ascension games are about half the price for 300 cards instead of 500. The MRSP for Dominion is $25 lower for the same 500 card count. So, definitely the cost per card is a bit higher, but other games also don't have to pay licensing fees and, as noted, the component quality is stellar.

In regards to the difficulty, there are many different ways to ramp it up right in the rule book. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, others have posted variants which you can always try.
I made a comment in one of the threads that its unusual for your attack to exactly equal the Mastermind, most often you have a few extra. I think you've got to get up into the "Tyrant" mode before before the extra hit point variant becomes significant. I've not yet tried the extra scheme twists, so maybe that should be next on my agenda.
