I am not a lawyer, either. But the pledge rewards are swimming in the grey area between gifts and preorders. And I would think they balance to the side of preorder.The German customs are the real problem here. Labelling it as "gift" is not wrong, labelling it as "sample without worth" would be. However, the German customs have become quite suspicious of "gifts" from the US (or so I've been told), and tend to hold those at customs. And when there is even a slight hint that something was paid in order to get the items, they are only too happy to slap you with fees.
Homer, I don't mind paying customs this once. In fact, it would be the legally right thing, I'd reckon. However, I really don't want to pay the same on every subsequent (and totally free) package.
That said, I'll wait a bit. But am not sure how much longer I can stand it.
The only way to circumvent all this would probably be a written letter from Valley Games, that these are gifts provided for donations. Which would not be true, generally - because we DID actually purchase something...
