It's a tough mission. Played with MD7 and 4. With MD7 the heroes were obliterated. With MD4 they managed to survive (don't remember if they completed the mission).Fusion Cannon surely helps taking care of several missiles and fighters.
Tractor Bay also helps, but at the cost of 3 characters (1 to pull, 1 to hack the fighter portal, 1 to throw a satchel charge inside the fighter, free action to release the fighter from the tractor)
Cannon on multi consumes a lot of energy. You need at least 4 batteries to help with that.
ENG skill of the enemy pilots should be low.
