No, you are drawn through the gate first and the monster stays on the gate and moves as normal if it's symbol comes up on the next mythos phase. If it is still there when your character comes out, you would have to fight/evade it on the movement phase the turn after you come out of the gate.

Yes, anytime a gate opens you add a doom token.
