The issue of whether throwing away cards is good or bad has been debated before in strategy threads. My impression was that a slight majority of the players (including myself) felt that throwing away an action is a disadvantage most (but not all) of the time. Playing through your deck faster can certainly put pressure on your opponents, but probably not quite enough pressure to actually force them to leave cards unplayed at the end of the round. Throwing away a card is clearly less of a disadvantage towards the end of the game, because you give up fewer uses of the card you threw away.

Here is a thought experiment: Suppose you just levelled up for the first time, and there are two choices in the AA offer: Ritual Attack, and Ritual Attack*. Ritual Attack* is exactly like Ritual Attack, except the card that would be thrown away is discarded instead. Which would you choose?
