The Cataclysm is not a serious threat with fewer players or solo. It pose serious and ridiculous threat when played with 4 players. Since players deal with the event phase all by themselves but the STR or Damage of the events are mostly based on number of players.But nevertheless it's a challenge for all Rune Age fans. And with the new units from the expansions you have bigger chance to gain the upper hand.
You should check the Ascent of The Overlord Scenario (not a solitaire though) with minimum 3 players. It's seriously challenging and fun.
