I prefer not being one of the heroes, too. The core of my (very few) issues with this game is that some of the Heroes and Allies don't reflect their power level well. Does anyone here think that Black Widow the comic character is a greater threat than Hulk? I've come to terms with this in almost all cases (I won't spout off about that here), but this problem would get much worse if we started a version of this where someone is Wolverine and someone else is Cyclops.Another big part of that is the inevitable fights over who gets to be more popular characters (Deadpool) versus who has to be less popular ones (Jubilee). And games would suffer greatly whenever the chosen characters have greatly different power levels. The guy playing Elektra when trying to defeat Red Skull and Hydra would have a big challenge, while someone playing Thor would find them at most an annoyance.
I guess it could work if the players are simply a role (grunt, general, medic) like I hear at least one of the Legendary-inspired concepts are, but I'm very much against any form where the players are specific characters. Also, I think any game with things like Medic and Grunt would introduce a lot of extraneous rules that might slow down the game.
